Softening salt is made from high-purity sodium chloride (99.5% purity or higher) under high pressure. It has few impurities, dissolves smoothly, is dust-free, and is less likely to clog equipment pipes. As a consumable specifically for water softeners, it is mainly used for the regeneration of cation exchange resins: saturated brine replaces the calcium and magnesium ions adsorbed by the resin, restoring its water softening capacity and preventing scale buildup in pipes and heating equipment from the source. It is suitable for household whole-house water purification, hotel laundry rooms, commercial hot water equipment in restaurants, and small low-pressure boiler water treatment. It protects water-related appliances, reduces the consumption of cleaning supplies, and improves the water user experience.
Softening salt is for water softening regeneration only. Do not mix with calcium chloride or magnesium chloride, as this may damage the softening resin.

Working principle of water softening salt:
Hard water contains calcium ions (Ca²⁺) and magnesium ions (Mg²⁺). When water flows through a sodium-type cation exchange resin, the resin adsorbs these hardness ions while releasing sodium ions, thus reducing water hardness and softening the water.
After continuous use, the resin becomes saturated with calcium and magnesium ions and loses its softening ability. At this point, a saturated brine solution of softening salt is needed to regenerate the resin: the high concentration of sodium ions reverses the flow, displacing the calcium and magnesium ions adsorbed on the resin. These ions are discharged with the wastewater, and the resin reverts to its sodium-type structure, thus restoring its water softening performance.
Applications: Softening salt can be used in homes, hotels, laundries, factory boilers, and central air conditioning systems to produce soft water, preventing scale buildup, protecting equipment, and improving the water usage experience.
Usage Instructions: Only use dedicated softening salt with a purity of 99.5% or higher. Do not use iodized salt, bulk industrial salt, or sea salt. Always maintain the salt level in the salt tank at least 1/3 and replenish it regularly. Store in a dry place to prevent moisture and clumping. Select the flake/granular form of softening salt according to your equipment model.
High-purity soft water with minimal salt loss is suitable for both household cleaning and industrial water recycling. If you're unsure about which specifications to choose or are planning to purchase and stock up, please feel free to contact us; we'll answer your questions patiently.
